GenNET Seat Time Waiver Program
Michigan students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to take more than two online courses per semester/trimester - including a full-time online schedule - through the GenNET Seat Time Waiver (STW) program. In addition, students in grades K-5 can participate in GenNET's K-5 Seat Time Waiver program if they are enrolled in a school district in Genesee County or any county contiguous to Genesee County. Courses must be enrolled through the GenNET Portal. Please contact GenNET staff at (810) 591-4401 for details.
GenNET online courses allow for scheduling flexibility, allowing students to continue their studies outside the traditional classroom environment. Online courses provide opportunities to:
- at-risk students
- elite athletes
- performers in the arts
- pregnant students
- incarcerated students
- students who are homebound due to illness or injury
- see profile of students served
Having a student take the majority or all their coursework online is an important decision that should be supported by thoughtful planning with parents, counselors, educators and school administrators.
Students should contact the counselor or principal at their school. School principals or counselors should contact their local ISD/RESA for more information.
